If you took your car to the repair garage because it was making a strange noise, would you expect them to show you a list of every part used to build your car so you could decide what needed fixed?
Most people don’t enjoy studying things like portfolio theory, P/E ratios, taxes, present value calculations, and life expectancy tables. As a result, most people are not in a position to evaluate most of the financial products and strategies available to them. If I were to provide a list of those things, including “butterfly spreads” and a “Stretch IRA”, most would not know what they are or if they were something they should consider for their situation.
In reality many people aren’t sure what questions to ask in the first place, rather than giving you the “parts list”, below are examples of questions you may have asked yourself and we may have the answer.
